How long should a blog post be is one of those age old questions.
EVERYONE and their dog has an opinion of how many words a blog post should have.
It is probably one of the most asked blogging questions and the answer really is simple.
However long you want it to be.
However long you need it to be.
However long it takes to say what you want to say.
Popular thought is that all content should be over 300 words to avoid the absolute horror of your content being branded as thin content.
And at the other end it is thought that the ideal length is anywhere from 1000 – 2500 words to have the maximum effect on SEO.
But really your content should be as long as you want it to be to say what you need to say.
I am sure like me you have seen content that is much longer than it needs to be, stuffed to the max with keywords to try and please the Google Gods.
Personally, I don’t think content needs to long. You don’t need to grab a cup of bovril and read a novel of a blog post.
To me the best content is short and punchy that gets to the point, which is why I always aim to keep my content quite short so you can read little snap shots about popular and controversial blogging topics.
You shouldn’t feel pressured to make your content a certain length because it was what the internet tells you to do or it is what everyone else is doing.
Make your content as long as you want, you need and you like it to be.
Don’t be restricted to the wordcount that every one is doing.
You do you. Because who is to say that Google will like you anyways.
